The style is general purpose and with the absence of any scales or handle material means that there is just one part. It is the slimmest cross section it can be, reducing weight and bulk. The blade is finished with ferric chloride to distinguish the different layers of steel and then the whole knife is coffee etched, which is used to darken the carbon steel for contrast.
