loose panicle of red bracts and berry-like fruits
This species is decorated with orange berries directly along the branches that ripen to pink and purple
In Florida we set the plants deep in fresh moist sphagnum moss so the moisture that evaporates cools the plant and we have a very good rate of success
In the newer growth the leaves develop white and pink colored patches and the older lower leaves turn a tan color
flat rosette with sharply pointed green leaves
Lapanthus duartei SEL1991-0511 Br. Minas Gerais X PULIRIUM loose panicle of red bractsA very confusing taxa which has been variously considered Cryptanthus, Orthophytum (supthutii), Lapa and currently; Lapanthus. A small rosette of thin, semi stiff leaves with small marginal spines and a nidular inflorescence lacking a scape. The bright orange yellow flowers, borne in a cluster, are long and tubular. By general appearances it would comfortably fit in any of several genera. Certainly rare and unusual and a first class collector item.
