Iron Bound Teak Dowry Chest From Kutch - 18th Century Benches this one is from RajasthanThis beautifully patinated iron bound chest is from Kutch and dates to the 18th century. It is constructed from teak wood. Most likely it was custom made for a wealthy family to stash away dowry, family treasures, or cash from the prying eyes of extended family members. The interior consists of a large storage space. A sturdy iron chain prevents the lid from falling fully open. This chest has been reduced in height to make a practical coffee table.
