I'm told that the color is caused by nickel content, and it's not dyed, as you can clearly see solid green patches on the back (unpolished side) of the piece. The form of the original tree is clearly seen and well preserved. For a final touch, the piece fluoresces beautiful purple and green hues under SW UV light.
