Gilded Teak Burmese Buddha From Mandalay - 19thC Origin - India This finely carved kang tableAn excellent example of an antique teak gilt and lacquered Mandalay Buddha dating from the 19th century. Buddha is depicted seated in vajrasana, with his right hand gesturing to the earth in the bhumisparsa mudra position. The head originally had a band of small mirrors above the Buddha's forehead, some of which are remaining. The eyes are made from glass. This is without a doubt the best teak Mandalay Buddha that we have seen. From Burma 39 x 30 x 54
