Chateau Pichon-Baron, Pauillac, 2007 core-no-restrictions Under the thoughtful hand ofPichon Baron is one of the great 2nd Growths of Pauillac, owned by AXA Millsimes since 1987 and given decades of careful stewardship under Christian Seely (now AXA's overall director). 2007 was a difficult Bordeaux year wet, cool, demanding rigorous selection and even the top Pauillacs came out leaner than usual. But Pichon Baron has always made beautiful wine in tricky vintages: the estate's deep gravel terroir, its old vine Cabernet Sauvignon
